Abstract
Azimuth and slowness are the key attributes for identifying phase, associating them with events, and estimating the location of events.Polarization analysis based on the method of Jurkevics is used to determine azimuth and slowness of signals detected in three-component data. There are systematic biases of azimuth and slowness of those stations in the practical operation. To solve the problem, this paper presents a method of hierarchy slowness-azimuth station corrections for three-component seismic stations. It firstly corrects the global systematic biases in the slowness estimation, derived from statistical analysis of residuals at each station. Then it fine-tunes corrections in predefined small bins of slowness and azimuth. The testing with new corrections show improvement of slowness and azimuth estimation.
