Abstract
This paper first recalls the phenomena of synchronization and mutual exclusion for processes as well as the fundamental of P-V operation. It then discusses the meaning of semaphore, the key points and procedure of implementation synchronization and mutual exclusion for processes using P-V operation, such as the number of semaphore, the initial value of semaphore and so on. It provides mutual exclusion, unilateral and bi-directional restriction with several examples to validate the solution method and procedure, and it proposes the model of synchronization and mutual exclusion for processes——producer——consumer problem. At last the teaching effect is evaluated.
