Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of apoptosis inhibitor gene survivin in bladder carcinoma and study its clinical-pathological implication and its clinical significance. Methods The expression of survivin were detected by immunohistochemistry SP method in 38 cases of bladder carcinoma, 10 of adjacent tissue. Results ①In bladder carcinoma, the positive rates of survivin expression (71.1%,27/38) was remarkably increased compared with matched adjacent tissue (10%,1/10)(P0.01). ② Tumors with lymph node metastases (80%,4/5) had more survivin protein than those without metastasis (69.7%,23/33)(P0.01). ③According to clinical-pathological stage, the bladder carcinoma samples were divided into Ⅰ,Ⅱ, and Ⅲ stage. Comprising the survivin expression between Ⅰ+Ⅱ (64%,16/25) and Ⅲ stage (84.6%,11/13), the difference was significant(P0.01). The positive rates of survivin increased with clinical stage and lymph nodes metastasis (rs=0.517,P0.05). Conclusion The abnormal expression of survivin correlates with the occurrence and development of bladder carcinoma. Survivin is an important prognostic indicator of bladder carcinoma.
