Abstract
Objective Comparing with traditional treatment, the complications and side effects were evaluated after the extraction of the mandibular third molar in the presence of pericoronitis. Methods According to the principle of systematic review and meta-analysis, 10 papers about the practicability of extraction of the mandibular third molar in the presence of pericoronitis were analysed. Results Comparing with traditional treatment of pericoronitis, RR and CI of immediate extraction after operation were 0.24 and 0.12~0.50 relating to pain respectively. Immediate extraction was good for releasing swelling and trismus. Two treatments were different at the healing time. Conclusion Comparing with traditional treatment, immediate extraction of wisdom in the presence of pericoronitis leads to less pain.
