Comparison between Rougan Mixture and Biejiajian Pill in Effect of Preventing Hepatic Fibrosis

OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of Rougan Mixture in preventing hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B in search of simple, cheap and effective prescriptions for preventing hepatic fibrosis. METHOD 120 patients with chronic hepatitis and hepatic fibrosis were randomly divided into a Rougan Mixture group of 64 patients and a Biejiajian Pill group of 56 patients, who were treated for equal duration of time. Serum hyaluronic acid (HA,China), type III procollagen (PCIII), laminin (LN) and type IV collagen (IV-C) were observed. RESULT Compared with the control group, HA, PCIII, LN and IV-C in the treatment group dropped markedly, but no significant changes were detected between the two groups (P0.05). CONCLUSION Rougan Mixture has similar effect to Biejiajian Pill in preventing hepatic fibrosis and is a simple, cheap and effective prescription for the prevention of hepatic fibrosis.
