Abstract
The compensation of reactive power is an important approach to ensure the stability of power system and make the power system perform more efficient. The current situation and trends of reactive power compensation from some aspects, such as the reason of the reactive power generation, the harm of the reactive power flow, the principle of reactive power compensation, the configure of the capacity of reactive power compensation and the development of equipments of reactive power compensation, were expatiated systemically.The principle of reactive power compensation applying in China, the principle and the characteristic of the novel reactive power compensation equipment using the electric and electronics technology were introduced emphatically. A reference to the application of reactive power compensation was provided.
