Abstract
Influenced by Xun Zi and Zhou Yi Da Zhuan, Yue Ji has two different aesthetical thought. The one o-riginated from Xun Zi is philosophically based on the existing world says that the origin of music is the interaction be-tween the inner spirit and the outer world; while the aesthetics which came from Yi Zhuan and whole philosophical basis is the living world regards the sky as the source of music: the noumenon of the world. In the modern linguistic environ-ment led by the duality culture of the West, we have a definite understanding on the aesthetic thought coming from Xun Zi though; but the aesthetics originated from Yi Zhuan is culturally misunderstood, evenly completely negated by many modern scholars. Actually the aesthetics from Yi Zhuan is the essence of the theory in Yue Ji, and really represents Chi-nese cultural spirit. Could not be interpreted by the western culture, such academic thinking is the peculiar contribution of Chinese to the world.
