Abstract
F2 heterosis and the effects of reciprocal crosses on the yield and fiber quality of F1 of cotton were studied. The results showed that there were significant differences in the yield of F1 of sister lines.Stronger F1 heterosis, larger the decreasing range of F2 heterosis, and the decreasing range of lint yield was lower than that of seed cotton yield. The lint percentage of F2 increased more than that of F1,the seed index of F2 decreased more than that of F1,and the stability of lint percentage was larger than that of seed index. The specific strength and micronaire value changed greatly than fuzz length, uniformity and elongation percentage. The lint percentage and seed index of F1of reciprocal crosses had maternal effect. The lint yield had 3% heterosis using early maturing and high lint percentage lines as female parent. The effects of reciprocal crosses on the micronaire value and elongation percentage of F1 were greater than that of specific strength, fuzz length and uniformity.
