Abstract

A series of novel shape memory blend materials were fabricated by blending three kinds of styrene butadiene copolymer(SBS)with low density polyethylene(PE-LD)and were chemically crosslinked by benzoyl peroxide(BPO).The degree of crosslinking, tensile strength, and the elongation at break of the crosslinked blends were tested and investigated. With increasing content of BPO,the degree of crosslinking of the blend increased,in which the SBS1201/PE-LD blend gave the maximum value. As the degree of crosslinking increased, the tensile strength and break elongation decreased. Moreover, when the BPO content was 0.5 % to 1.5 %,the crosslinked blend exhibited good shape memory behavior.
