Abstract

Objective To study the feasibility of DSA(digital subtraction angiography)external carotid artery and intra lingual arterial embolization with gelfoam in dogs. Methods At first we made DSA transfemoral elective intra external carotid artery, then we did DSA superselective intra lingual artery and bolted it with gelfoam to dissect the external carotid arteries of the dogs and their branches. Results The anatomic structures of the external carotid artery of dogs and its branches are similar to mankind's.Before embolization, the visualization of the external carotid artery and its branches is clear, but after embolization the visualization of the lingual artery, one of the branches of the external carotid artery,is unseen. Conclusion It is right that the dog is selected as experimental animal and the experiment of DSA transfemoral elective external carotid artery and superselective intra lingual arterial embolization with gelfoam in dogs is feasible.
