Vinpocetine in the treatment of vascular dementia

Abstract

Objective:To explore the effect and therapeutic mechanism of Vinpocetine in treating vascular dementia. Methods:The score of MMSE,HDS and the activity of cholinergic system in 96 patients with VD were etected and com- pared with control group in 10 and 21 days respectively.Results:The scores of MMSE and HDS of vinpocetine group were significantly higher than those of common group.Vinpocetine could decrease the activity of cholinesterase and im- prove content of acetylcholine in plasm in 21 days.Conclusions:Vinpocetine has definite effect on VD,which may im- prove the function of cholinergic system.
