Abstract

Objective To determine frequencies distribution of peroxisome proliferator activated receptorγ2(PPARγ2) gene Pro12Ala polymorphism genotype and allele in Liaoning Han population,and the relationship with over weight and obesity of older persons.Methods Polymerase chain reaction(PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP) was used to determine the distribution of allele and genotype frequencies of Pro12Ala polymorphism in(PPARγ2) gene in 186 over weight and obesity of older persons and 186 control subjects,case-contrast analysis was used to study the association between Pro12Ala polymorphism and over weight and obesity of older persons.Results 12 Ala allele frequencies in the case and control groups were 4.3%,2.1%,12 Ala allele was more frequent in the over weight and obesity of older persons than that in the control subjects(P=0.046).Conclusions PPARγ12Ala allele may be associated with over weight and obesity of older persons.
