Abstract

Two projects of beach nourishment were carried out respectively in 2009and 2013at the second swimming pool of the Middle Beach of the Beidehe Beach.Comparison and analysis of monitoring data after the two projects suggest that:(1)after natural evolution for four years after the first nourishment project in 2009,up to March 2013,erosion was very strong there. The swimming beach eagerly needs a restoration project to maintain it from erosion;(2)Both the two projects are successful cases of beach nourishment. The contrast of remaining filling sand volume for 3months and 6months after nourishment shows that the 2nd beach nourishment project is more successful. In order to assess the effectiveness of the project and to explore the factors which influence beach nourishment, continuous monitoring of the beach is recommended.
