A Survey of Korean Myths of Brother——Sister Marriage Centered on the Flood Myth and Their Studies

Abstract
Although brother-sister marriage is not a separate part of study in Korean mythology,myths of the flood and the brother-sister marriage have their own features.In the past,Korean studies on these myths were mainly confined to the domestic.Since 1994,mythological studies between East Asia and Korea,especially comparative research of brother-sister marriage myths,have caught the attention of Korean scholars.Central motifs recur both in Chinese and Korean flood brother-sister marriage myths,but the Chinese stories tend to be longer and more complex in plot.Korean taboos against brother-sister marriage have weakened the continuance of brother-sister marriage myths.
