Abstract
This paper explores the properties of causation, causativized verb and causative construction.Causation, generally,is a semantic notion, but mere semantic investigation can never show the nature of causation and causative construction. As a realization of verb, causativized verb is base-generated without any syntactically derivational relationship with other verbs. Its nature is dependent on its syntactic position in a sentence. It links two complex events in its deep semantic structure. As a lexical process, causativization may be applied to such categories as noun, adjective and intransitive verb.Causativized verb is not equivalent to light verb v,but is characteristic of overt proto-verb or canonical verb.Various causative constructions may be reduced to periphrastic causative construction, and to affected Appl fundamentally.
