Locking compression plate for comminuted distal radius fracture in the clinical application of

Objective To explore the clinical effects of locking compression plate(LCP) in treatment of comminuted distal radius fracture.Methods Fifty five patients with comminuted distal radius fracture were treated by open reduction and internal fixation with LCP.They were fixated with LCP through the volar approach and artificial bone substitute was implated in case of large bone defect.All cases were followed up for 4 to 23 months with an average period of 13.5 months.Results The mean healing time of fracture was seven weeks.According to Dienst criteria for joint functions,29 cases were rated as excellent,24 as good and 2 as fair,and their good-excellent rate being 96.4%.There was no complications such as infection,non-union,loosing of nails,carpal tunnel syndrome or medium neuritis occurred in all cases.Conclusion The application of LCP is one of the good options for treatment of patients with comminuted distal radius fracture.
