Abstract

Two-phase solvent of methanol-hexane and ethanol-hexane was used to extract cottonseed kernel, and the content and stability of free gossypol in alcohol phase, free gossypol content in residual and the extracted oil mass were compared. The results showed that the optimal extraction temperature was 40℃ and 30℃ respectively in the methanol-hexane and ethanol-hexane solvent extraction. The free gossypol content in alcohol and methanol phase reached their maximum value at solvent ratio of 3∶2,and the extracted oil mass reached their maximum value at solvent ratio of 2∶3.The stability of gossypol in methanol phase was higher than that in ethanol phase.
