Abstract
The stress effects of different concentrations(0,20,50,100,200 mmol/L) of complex sodium salt (NaCl, Na2CO3 and Na2SO4) on the germination of Hippophae rhamnoide seeds were investigated. The results demonstrated that the seed germination was significantly inhibited by the salt stress. Germination percentages of seeds stressed at the concentration of 20,50,80,100 and 150 mmol/L complex sodium salt were 84.44%, 55.56%, 32.22%, 20.00% and 4.44% respectively and they were significant lower than that of control (P0.01). A delay of germination course was observed for all stressed seeds compared with that of control and all the seeds did not germinate under 200 mmol/L salt stress The germination index (11.43) and vigor index (291.32) under control were higher significantly than those of all salt stress treatments. With the increase of salt concentrations, both germination index and vigor index reduced, and significance were observed among different treatments of salt concentration (P0.05).
