Abstract

The paper introduces the preliminary effect achieved by the 10th regulated discharge regime of the Yellow River and reviews the issues of the increment of peak discharge during floods, the people living in the floodplain of Xingyang City were surrounded by the flood water and the trestle of highway-railway bridge was impacted by the boats of floating bridge at Huayuankou. It suggests doing better work of the following: a) carrying out the study on the increment of peak discharge promptly;b) optimizing joint operation of reservoirs and striving for the achievement of sediment reduction of reservoirs and river channel;c) launching the publicity of the Yellow River knowledge and increasing the understanding on flood control and natural disaster reduction of the whole nation;d) strengthening the duty of flood control and the management of the river channel and floodplain and;e) tracking and analyzing the performance of floods along the course and further increasing the level of flood forecasting.
