The Concept and Controvery of Digital Currency

By clarification of the concept of electronic currency, virtual currency and digital currency, and the comparison research on three kinds of illegal currency, the paper points out that the main difference among digital currency and the other two currencies. Starting from the basic characteristics of digital currency, three controversial issues are reviewed and discussed, i.e. whether digital currency should be trusted, is it really safety and can it become a real currency. Analysis display that as a disruptive innovation, the prospect of digital currency is large, but its healthy development cannot leave the recognition of government and the protection of laws, as well as the compromise and integration innovation with traditional financial system. Finally, the paper puts forward the current research directions of digital currency.
