Abstract
According to the field investigation, the macro-epicenter and the calculated-epicenter of M s5.9 earthquake on Dec 14, 2002 is located in Yumen area, where is the Qilian Mountain northern margin fault. The intensity of the meizoseismal region is VIII that is an ellipse with N65°W in long-axis direction and N25°E in short-axis direction, length of axes are 15km and 9km respectively. The causative fault is Hanxia-Dahuanggou sub-fault of Qilian Mountain northern edge fault. The aftershocks of Yumen earthquake concentrate in the neighbouring region of the fault.
