Abstract

In this paper, the discrete element model for deformable bodies is deduced according to the principle of dynamics for deformable bodies and model decomposition. The proper contact model is selected according to the fundamental principle of discrete element method. With the dynamic relaxation method, the corresponding calculating program is worked out. An example for a static problem is presented to test the validity of the discrete element method applied to deformable dodies.
