Abstract
A new fairing method for B-spline curves is presented. Our new approach differs from the traditional way of selecting and modifying bad points in that we modify all the control vertices of a B-spline curve which have influence to the bad points through energy minimization. There is a difference between our approach and the traditional energy method that we only modified those vertices which affect the bad points rather than all control vertices.Numerical experiments show that this is a very practical fairing approach for curves.
