Multi-slice Spiral CT in the Evaluation of Pre and Postoperative Liver Transplantation Recipient

Abstract

Objective To study whether or not multislice spiral CT angiography (MSCTA) could be used for evaluation of pre and postoperative orthotopic liver transplantation recipients.Materials and Methods 14 operative potential candidates for liver transplantation were performed with multi phase CT angiography with 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional volume rendering, and the condition of liverand vessels were carefully observed. MSCTA findings of 5 cases with orthotopic liver transplantation were compared with operative results.Results Hepatic disease and hepatic common artery and portal venous structures were well displayed by MSCT in 14 cases. MSCT demonstrated hepatic cirrhosis in 6 cases, and incorporating hepatocellular carcinoma in 5 cases, Budd Chiari syndromes in 1 case. Budd Chiari syndromes incorporating hepatic cirrhosis 1 case. Budd Chiari syndromes incorporating small hepatocellular carcinoma in 1 case. 11 cases had conventional and 3 cases had nonconventional hepatic arterial anatomy. 2 cases had celiac trunk stenosis, 1 case had hepatic artery stenosis, and 1 case with splenic artery aneurysm. Portal vein thrombosis was shown in 5 cases, hepatic venous collateral circulation by portal vein hypertension in 6. 3 cases had biliary gallstone. 1 of 5 orthotopic liver transplantation recipients in preoperating had portal vein cancerous embolus, 3 cases had hepatic venous collateral circulation by portal vein hypertension, 5 cases without postoperative complications.Conclusion MSCTA in pre and postoperative liver transplantation can provide rich and accurate information, it have better application future.
