Abstract
A method for the determination of vanadium by spectrophotometry has been developed. The conditions of color reaction of a new reagent of 2(tetrazolylazo)5diethylaminobenzoic acid(TTZDBA)with vanadium(Ⅴ)are studied. The results show that the new color reagent reacts with vanadium and forms a stable purple red complex in the medium of HAcNaAc (pH 3.5). The apparent molar absorptivity is 3.52×104 L·mol-1·cm-1 and the maximum absorption wavelength is at 566 nm. Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0~0.8 mg/L for V(Ⅴ).The method has been applied to the direct determination of vanadium in an aluminium alloy sample and a synthetic water sample with satisfactory results. The recovery of standard addition is 101.3%~102.7% with precision of 1.0%~2.5% RSD(n=6).
