Analysis on Published Papers and Its Citation in "Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control",2004-2008

Objective To analyze the information of the published paper and its citation and authors in Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control,provide evidence to improve the quality of the journal.Methods All papers published in the journal from 2004 to 2008 was analyzed,and the citation rate,mean citation number and Price Index were calculated.Results A total of 1038 papers were published from 2004 to 2008,mainly covering the research of schistosomiasis and schistosome (78.42%),and the papers included thesis (41.14%),the disease control note (23.89%) and research note (18.59%).The authors were from provincial research institutions (29.19%),municipal disease control centers (19.08%),county (district) disease control centers (19.46%) and universities/academies (18.59%),etc.There was no significant difference on the rate of papers supported by various funds during the five years (P0.05),Among these papers,32.77% were with the national project fund.Among the 1308 papers published,750 cited references with the citation rate of 72.75%,the total citation number is 6707 (mean 6.46).The Price Indexes were 42.03%,47.08%,37.00%,42.95% and 48.22% respectively from 2004 to 2008 with the mean of 43.39%.From 2004 to 2008,the impact factor of the journal increased year by year,and the mean interval between submission and publication of a paper was 4.92 months during the five years.Conclusion The journal has high academic level in the field of parasitology,from which one can learn about the current information on schistosomiasis.However,citation number and citation rate should be further increased.
