Abstract
Deng Xiaoping’s theory of the essence on socialism not only scientifically revealed the essence of socialism but contained the scientific explanation on the relationship between socialism and capitalism: the relationship between socialism and capitalism is dialectical and unified, i.e. unity of opposites. The kernel of the theory of socialism is productive forces, the concept of which embodies not only the general quality of socialism but the special quality of socialism, that is, it embodies not only the association between socialism and captitalism but the distinctiveness. The slogan “Abolish exploitation, Get rid of the poor and rich extremity and Realize common prosperity” reveals the essential difference betwcen socialism and capitalism from the angle of production relations and the purpose of productive forces.
