Abstract

A bacterial strain isolated from waste sludge was identified as Pesudomonas putida according to morphological, physiological experiment. It can use toluene as sole carbon and energy sources.Under experimental conditions, the strain degraded 80%~100%of the added toluene at temperature 20~40℃ and pH for 7.The toluene concentrations under 316mg/L can not significantly affect its removal efficiency. The biodegradation pathway of toluene has formed cis-toluene dihydrodiol by toluene dioxygenase.
