Abstract
Objectives: To study the effects of isometric and isonotic quadriceps exercise on patients with knee osteoarthritis(OA). Methods: Thirtyfive patients underwent isometric and isotonic quadriceps exercise, each for 1 month. And then muscle strength and functional performance of the lower extremity were measured before and after the treatment. Results: After the treatment, muscle strength increased significantly, functional performance of the lower extremity such as walking, climbing stairs and rising from chair were significantly improved, and knee pain reduced markedly. Conclusions: This method was a convenient, safe, practical and effective method to knee OA.
