Minimal incision approach above the greater trochanter in the treatment of injection-induced gluteal muscle contracture in children

Objective To summarize the experience of a minimal incision approach above the greater trochanter in the treatment of injection-induced gluteal muscle contracture in children.Methods 260 children with injection-induced gluteal muscle contracture aged from 8 to 13 years were subjected to the minimal incision approach above the greater trochanter to relieve the fibrotic gluteal muscle.Results All children were followed up for 10 months to 8 years.The surgical effectiveness was evaluated with standard of Xia Rong Qi.172 children obtained excellent results,and 88 good.No wound complications occurred in all children.Conclusion The minimal incision approach above the greater trochanter could relieve the fibrotic gluteal muscle adequately and gain good surgical effects with less tissue injury.
