Abstract
Due to the large investment and long construction period,it is hard for rail transit system to form a relative large scale network in a short period so as to become the backbone of the urban public transport system. So,influenced by successful Bus Rapid Transit(BRT) lines in many big cities of the world,in recent years,a lot of domestic cities have begun to pay more and more attention to BRT.As a result, many BRT lines are being planned and constructed.Facing the new situation, how to identify the function orientation of BRT? How to deal with the relationships among BRT,rail transit system as well as common public transport system? How to plan and build BRT lines well with its inherent functions and technical properties? This paper presents some rational views on these confusing questions.
