Abstract

This paper deals with two new species of Rhyncaphytoptinae from China. All the type specimens are deposited in the Nanjing Agricultural University. Catarhinus vulgaris Kuang et Feng, sp. nov. (figs. 1-5)This new species closely allied to Catarhinus sacchari Kuang, but distinguished by the following characters: thanosome with 32-35 tergites and 70-75 sternites, coxa smooth and featherclaw 5-rayed.Holotype ♀. taken in December 1984, from Do'an County (23.2°N, 106.4°E), Guangxi, by Feng Yuan-bi. Paratypes 12 ♀♀, same as holotype.. Host: Sarghum vulgane.Rhyncaphytoptus ipomoeae Kuang et Shi, sp. nov. (figs. 6-10) The new species closely allied to Rhyncaphytoptus lushanensis Kuang a Zhao, but dis-tingiushed by the following characters: shield designed witn incomplete median line and admedian line with granules near anterior margin and tergites with elliptical microtubercles.Holotype ♀, taken in August 1985 from Mingquan County (34.6°N, 115.1°E), Henan, by Shi Hong-lee. Allotype ♂, paratypes 7♀♀ same as holotype, Host: Ipomoea batata.
