Abstract
To improve grain quality and blast resistance of early-season rice variety, by making crosses between the breeding materials bred by our institute, then by selecting individual plants at the target area and also at the blast-screening nursery, and by carrying out Rapid Generation Advance at Nanning and Hainan, We have developed a new early-season rice variety_Xiangzao 143. It has good grain quality and is resistant to rice blast as well. Its characteristics and performance in the regional trial of rice in south part of China have also briefly introduced.
