Abstract
【Objective】 To study the relationship between obesity and blood pressure among children aged 3~18 years of Chongqing urban areas. 【Methods】 Study group of 1 134 obese children aged 3~18 years and control group of 2 268 normal weight children aged 3~18 years were recruited for this study.Blood pressure and waist circumference were taken from all the participants.Hypertension was defined by age,sex and height specific reference for US children. 【Results】 ① The mean levels of systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) in every age group were significantly higher in the study group than tlose in the control group, and the changes of SBP were more bigger than those of DBP,the changes of blood pressure in boys were more bigger than those in girls.②The total prevalence of high blood pressure(HBP) was 8.9% in obesity children and 1.5% in normal weight children(P0.001).Among children aged 3~18 years, the prevalence of HBP in preschool children was the highest.③The prevalence of high blood pressure(HBP) in central obese children and peripheral obese children were 11.3% and 0.9% respectively, and the difference was significant(P0.001). 【Conclusions】 Weight is positive related with blood pressure in children aged 3~18 years of Chongqing.Children obesity, especially boy obesity and central obesity were the important risk factors of children hypertension.
