Abstract
Objective To study the value of the contrast CT in the diagnosis of parotid diseases. Methods The contrast CT findings of 62 cases parotid diseases proved by operation and pathology were retrospectively analyzed. Results The final diagnoses were : benign lesions (33) and malignant tumors (29). Among the 33 benign lesions, there were 30 benign tumors, twenty five of 30 benign tumors were well defined, homogenous in density, 5 of 30 benign tumors were inhomogeneous, but with well defined or poor defined. Twenty six of 29 malignant tumors were both poor defined and homogeneous, and 3 of 29 malignant tumors were well defined and homogeneous. Conclusion The contrast CT scan has significant value in localizing and qualifying diagnosis, especially in differentiating diagnosis between benign and malignant tumors of parotid gland. [
