Abstract
The production and control of bromate in the UV/PMS system were studied by the means of ion chromatography analysis. Results showed that bromate was produced and the concentration of reached 4.96 μmol·L-1 by 15 min at PMS dose of 500 μmol·L-1 and bromide concentration of 20 μmol·L-1.The concentration of bromate increased with the dose of PMS,but decreased with the increase of initial concentration of bromide. Finally,it was found that the addition of hydrogen peroxide could reduce the production of bromate efficiently. The conclusions would provide a reference to control the production of bromate for the application of UV/PMS in the treatment of bromide-containing water.
