Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in gastric carcinoma. Methods The expressions of CTGF and VEGF in cancer and tumor-adjacent normal tissues in 64 patients with grastic cancer were examined by immunohistochemistry. Results The expressions of CTGF and VEGF were higher in gastric carcinoma than those in normal tissues(P0.05).Overexpression of CTGF was correlated with the degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage(P0.05).Overexpression of VEGF was correlated with the clinical stage and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).CTGF expression was positively correlated to VEGF in gastric carcinoma(P0.05).Conclusion CTGF and VEGF are overexpressed in gastric carcinoma, which is associated with clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma.Combined detection of CTGF and VEGF may be taken as the marker in early diagnosis and evaluating the prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
