Abstract

The leaf anatomical structure of Chlorophytum capense var.medio-pictum is studied by paraffin slice. The results indicates: ①the leaf is isobifacial, and each epidermis consists of a row of epidermic cells, the thickness of upper epidermis is about twice as that of the lower, stomata distribute only on the lower epidermis, and there is no palisade tissue and spongy tissue in the mesophyll. The simple vein consists of xylem, phloem and mechanical tissue;②thickness and cell size of leaves in C.capense var.medio-pictum are much bigger than those in C.capense;③in C.capense var.medio-pictum leaves, cell size of yellow stripe is much bigger than that of green stripe, which indicates biosynthesis of chlorophyll and development of chloroplast perhaps inhibit the cell size of the leaves.
