Abstract

Objective To comparison of effects on periodontal index between self- ligating brackets and conventional straight. Methods 90 orthodontic patients were divided into two groups randomly. 45 patients in traditional group were treated by conventional straight. 45 patients in improved group were treated by self- ligating brackets. The effects of periodontal index in the patients of two groups were compared. Results The periodontal index of improved group was significantly higher than traditional group's,the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 05). There was no serious adverse consequences happened in two groups during the treatment. Conclusion The treatment of self- ligating brackets on orthodontic patients could improve the periodontal condition, degree of comfort and aesthetic, patients' satisfaction. It is an ideal method for orthodontic patients.
