Qian Mu's Study of Master Gong Sunlong

Abstract

Mr.Qianmu made a and thorough study of Master Gong Sunlong in the 1930s.He succeeded Hu Shi' s point of view,making a detailed textual criticism of Master Gong Sunlong's life story.Besides,he made a further systematic explanation to the book Master Gong Sunlong by taking in the result of previous researches.He held that what the book Master Gong Sunlong expounded is to state the abstract name of subjective consciousness rather than the concrete name relative to the objective being,which is a perceptual knowledge,not a logical rationality.These points of view cannot be ignored in the history of study of logics(Mingxue in Chinese)and they are still an inspiration to the people of our time.
