Abstract

Objective To investigating the hospitalized elderly patients with oropharyngeal Candida colonization and the distribution characteristics of the species, provide a reference for the effective prevention of Candida infections. Methods 894 cases of hospitalized patients with oropharyngeal Candida colonization were isolated from 44th Hospital of PLA. Results 121 strains were cultured from the 894 specimens, and the Candida colonization rate was 13. 5%,elderly patients with Candida engraftment rate was higher than the non-elderly patients. Candida albicans took the largest proportion, accounting for 74. 5%. The Candida colonization rate of patients who was older than 80,having underlying lung diseases as well as using antibiotics was higher than normal patients, the difference between them was statistically significant( P 0. 05). Conclusion The rate of elderly patients with oropharyngeal Candida colonization is higher than normal patients, the strain distribution of Candida albicans is the most common. Patients age, underlying lung diseases and the use of antibiotics are closely related to the Candida colonization.
