The Expression of Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) and Vascular Epithelial Growth Factor (VEGF) in Peritoneal Fluid of Patients with Endometriosis

【Objective】To evaluate whether these alteration could provide causative and progressive information.【Methods】The concentration of HGF and VEGF was studied by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) methods in 25 cases of endometriosis and 15 cases of normal control without endometriosis.【Results】①The HGF and VEGF concentrations in peritoneal fluids of both mild and severe endometriosis groups were significantly higher than in controls(P0.01,P0.05);while no significant difference was observed between the mild and severe endometriosis groups(P0.05).There were no correlation between the level of HGF or VEGF and degree of endometriosis(P0.05).②The HGF concentration in peritoneal fluids had no significant difference between the proliferative and secretory phase in endometriosis(P0.05),while VEGF concentration in the proliferative phase was significantly higher than that in secretory phase(P0.05).No cyclic variation in HGF and VEGF was seen in the control group(P0.05).③A positive correlation between peritoneal fluid levels of HGF and VEGF was observed in the endometriosis group(P0.05).【Conclusion】The increased HGF and VEGF secretion involves in the pathogenesis of endometriosis,they can promote the ocurrence and progression of the disease together.Increased levels of HGF in patients with endometriosis are not attributed to the cycle phase,while the level of VEGF maybe is adjusted by female's hormone.
