A Study of "Zong Kings" in Yunnan in the Yuan dynasty

Abstract

The administration of Yunnan by King was an important element in the political system of Yunnan in the Yuan dynasty.The administration by King,the system of administrative province,Tusi system and Xuanweisi system formed the administrative and political system composed of multi-elements in Yunnan,a basis for the Central Government's control of Yunnan.This paper discusses the successive nine Zong Kings and their time in power as well as a comparison with other kings,and analyzes their positive and negative roles in the political system of Yunnan in the Yuan dynasty.
