Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effects of dietary soybean hydrolysate intake on the concentration of serum total cholesterol(TC) and serum lipid in hypercholesterolemic rats and to study their mechanisms.Methods:28 days after we successfully induced the hypercholesterolemia rat model,we fed the rats a purified diet containing either casein or soybean hydrolysate.After the experimental diets had been fed for 56 days,fasting animals were killed.Results:Comparing with the rats in casein group,the TC and TG in soybean hydrolysate group were significantly lower(P0.05).The concentration of fecal excretion of bile acids was higher in the rats of soybean hydrolysate group(P0.05).However,the changes of HDL-C were not significant in these rats.The level of LDL receptor mRNA in soybean hydrolysate rats was significiantly higher.Conclusions:Dietary soybean hydrolysate intake may lower TC but further researches are needed to explain the possible mechanism of soybean hydrolysate intake in lowering TC.
