Abstract

Though scientific Sociology has been introduced into China for many years, there are still many theoretical issues we are unclear about. This article is an attempt to define the target and methodology of research in scientific sociology, and to expound the basic relationship between socientific sociology and scientific philosophy. The conclusion arrived at in this article is that scientific sociology is in essence an interpretation of science, which is characterized by its close relationship to the reality of scientific work and by its solid experiential foundation. Thererfore, scientific sociology performs the functions of broadening the view of and roviding raw materials for research in scientific philosophy.
