Abstract
The metabolic syndrome is a complex disorder of several metabolic abnormalities,which represents a risk factor leading to type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.The definitions of metabolic syndrome are reviewed,with the focus on the IDF definition of April 2005 and the diagnosis of MS in this paper.
