Study of bacterium distribution in the conjunctival sac and preoperative medication in the normal aged people in Jilin City

Objective To research bacterium distribution in the conjunctival sac in the normal aged people in Jilin City and search for the proper preoperative medicine by applying four kinds of medicines in common use in the conjunctival sac.Methods The secretion of the conjunctival sac from 608 normal aged people was collected and bacteria were cultured.Persons with positive results were selected and divided into four groups.Four kinds of medicines were used for the eyedrop application six times per day during 3 days,then bacteria were cultured again.Results The positive rate was 38.98% in the first bacterial culture,and 11 positive bacteria were found and Staphylococci was the major one during which Staphylococcus epidermidis occupied 56.96%.Bacteria were cultured again after the application with four kinds of medicines,the quantity of bacteria was all declined.Conclusion The preoperative application of antibiotic eyedrop could remarkably decrease the quantity bacteria in the conjunctival sac.Levofloxacin eye drop was better than others as a preoperative application medicine for inside eye operation.
