Spatial Structure Effect on the Growth of Manufacturing Industry in Economic Circle——Evidence from Panel Data of Yangtze River Delta

Based on the panel date on Yangtze River Delta' s prefecture-level city's two-digit industries,this paper analyzed the spatial structure effect to manufacturing industry growth in economic circle.Through analysis found that in the economic circle,two-digit industries' absolute geographic concentration and industry growth shows significant negative correlation,which shows wide-area agglomeration economy and disired industry convergence within the scope of economic circle.Manufacturing industries specialization in the economic circle shows constantly improving trend,but the degree of urban specialization is negatively related to industry growth,which shows relative diversity of manufacturing industries is more conducive to manufacturing industry growth.The findings are contrary with widely accepted views,then we explained the reasons of the differences from the angle of regions and industries,and explained the widely convergency economy in the economic circle from the angle of urban functional specialization.
