Abstract
ObjectiveTo observe the protective effects of Huzhang Decoction(HZD)(Rhizoma Polygonicuspidati,Radix Sanguisorbae,Herba Saururi,Rhizoma curcumae,etc) on liver injury induced by CCl4 in rats.MethodsThe experimental model was established by administration of CCl4(50%,1 ml/kg,po) for 3 days.60 wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups:normal,HZD control,liver injury,HZD prevention,HZD I(treated with HZD 1.0 g/kg) and II(treated with HZD 2.0 g/kg).The activities of SOD,ALT,AST,AKP and the contents of MDA,NO and TNF-α in liver or serum were measured.ResultsCompared with normal group,HZD itself did not injury liver,but the damage induced by CCl4 was significant.The levels of SOD was obviously decreased(P0.01),and the contens of ALT,AST,AKP,MDA,NO and TNF-αwere markedly increased(P0.01).However,whether provention or treatment,the HZD significantly enhanced the level of SOD and reduced the contents of MDA,ALT,AST,AKP,NO and TNF-α(P0.01).ConclusionHZD can protect liver against the injury caused by CCl4,its mechanism may be related to inbibiting lipid peroxidation and TNF-α expression,and protecting endothelial cell.
