Abstract

Objective To investigate the hepatoprotective and antifibrotic effect of compound Liuhuangruangan pills on chronic hepatic fibrosis induced by improved methods in rats. Methods Hepatic fibrosis models were induced by hypodermic injection of carbon tetrachloride olive oil solution and high-fat diet. After establishment of fibrosis models, rats were ig given experimental drugs, positive drugs or the vehicle for 1 month, twice a day.Rats were then sacrificed after the last administration and their serum and livers were collected. The levels of ALT,AST and HA,LN,Col-Ⅳ were determined and pathological changes in liver tissues were observed. Results The rats in the model group suffered obvious hepatic damage and chronic fibrosis.Liver function and hepatic fibrosis were improved in drug groups. The pathological observation of the liver showed that the degree of hepatic fibrosis was remarkably alleviated in drug groups. Conclusion The compound Liuhuangruangan pills play an important role in preventing chronic fibrosis of the rat liver.
